Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from an initial appointment?
During our sessions, we'll talk about what you hope to achieve and what you expect from our time together. It's important to me that you feel comfortable and at ease, so we'll work on building a strong, trusting relationship.
You'll have the opportunity to share parts of your story that are relevant to your treatment plan, helping us create a roadmap for your progress.
We'll also discuss any symptoms you're experiencing, how often they occur, and how they impact your life. This information will help us track your progress and make adjustments as needed. Your well-being is our top priority!
How can I make an appointment?
Provide your information on the ‘Book Services’ page and you will generally receive a call within 24 hours, or click on the phone number from your mobile to call instantly.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
If you want to receive a subsidy from Medicare, you will need a GP consultation for a referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan
You may choose to pay privately for sessions or claim through your health insurance, in which case no referral is needed.
NDIS clients who are self-managed will typically organise their own sessions and may also receive recommendations from their GP or Support Coordinator (referrals are not required).
DVA eligible clients are welcome and will need a GP referral
We are currently not seeing clients under WorkCover
How much does an appointment cost? Will I receive a rebate?
If you're interested in learning about session rates, including the new initial consultation option, we'll provide this information during the booking process or via the consent form.
How many sessions will I need?
This will be different for every person and can vary from one or two sessions to a more ongoing process.
What is EMDR?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. This process, being an 8-stage protocol, was developed by Francine Shapiro in 1987 to treat Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. It has also since been used to treat many other symptoms, such as pain, grief and addictive behaviours.
Much of the body’s natural healing processes take care of themselves during sleep (in particular, during the REM, or rapid eye movement, stage). When individuals have experienced traumatic or overwhelming events, this can overload the system’s ability to naturally heal and cause parts of these memories to remain “unprocessed”.
I am unable to make it to my appointment, what are my options?
If for any reason you are unable to attend an appointment, please notify your psychologist as soon as possible. If you are late, stuck in traffic, have symptoms of sickness or an unexpected issue arises, you can decide whether you prefer to convert your appointment to a telehealth session (via phone call or Zoom), proceed with a partial session or cancel and reschedule.

“I provide an empathetic, safe, non-judgmental and professional space to focus on your individual needs to achieve the best outcome for you.”
